So I've got to wonder... I just got an email back from a guy I left negative feedback about on ebay. He wants me to revert the negative feedback if I'm willing to take a partial refund on the item.

The item in question is a double LP of Massive Attack's Mezzanine, which I paid $66.00 plus shipping for. Yeah, I over paid for the thing, but I wanted it, and it was described as "Albums EX, EX- Cover EX". I get the thing and the cover is full of creases and has a ripped up area where half a price tag still exists, and one of the two records is unplayable it's got so much static. Attempts to clean it with Groove Glide have done nothing to fix it.

My feeling is if you're going to call a record in Excellent shape, it better fucking be in excellent shape. If you're unsure of what "excellent shape" means, take the record in question to a couple of record collecting buddies and ask them to rate it. Average out what they tell you, and to be safe, drop it 1/2 a rating. This record I got could only be called "fair" at best.

This is the second time I've had an ebay record come GROSSLY overrated. The previous one was only $8, but arrived totally unplayable. Like I didn't want to subject my stylus to it any longer. Again, it was described as "excellent shape", yet it was clear this guy didn't play it prior to selling it. I left him negative feedback and he got all pissed at me wondering why I didn't contact him first about the problem. My feeling is that he should have rated it honestly in the first place, and that an $8.00 record isn't worth my time to pay shipping for twice to get a refund of 8 bucks.

Any of you bother buying records on Ebay? Is it worth the hassle? I've got some really great stuff too, but the percentages aren't really working out so far...

The great artists of Hip hop are explained and extended into truth beyond with the "KEY-Truth In Artistry"

Will you be distracted by the corporate agenda manipulating you and using your life product, or will you be the downtrodden in the street with no options? New options of knowledge of how we can be unified and how the corporations ARE unified to exploit us can be our knowledge to use for our purposes. Understand and share your purposes with your brothers and sisters

Be with the peoples revolution of knowledge by confronting the "KEY-Truth In Artistry"

Corporate manipulations have made us worship images and made us crave different images to feel unique, special and as individuals. Corporations have taught us with media that those with different images are to be feared, ridiculed and resented. We all have the same needs and because the corporation have succeeded, now they have made us dependent on THEM, rather than cooperating with our brothers and sisters in this world for our mutual benefits.

Cooperate with sacred knowledge, allow the knowledge of the unconscious mind with the "KEY-Truth In Artistry"

We can triumph by just understanding how those corporations, courts and government agencies keep the secrets that have them colluding generation after generation unconsciously to dominate us and rule the material world. This simple knowledge of the unconscious mind used by indigenous peoples for centuries is what the Illuminati, the Masonic order and religion uses secrety to dominate. Simply by rejecting the fears that society promotes and understanding, this knowledge is ours, serving us.

Be served by the truth of the "KEY-Truth In Artistry"

Do you have needs? Do you have wants? Do you see that more is not better. Then you see that you need the natural world to be intact and whole. Can you accept that you need to have the peoples life product used to serve them and NOT a corporate agenda of global dominance and that working for such brings hope? Then understand that there are uses of the unconscious mind that have been made secret over the last 1,000 years.

Assist the great artists of Hip to appreciate your appetite for truth and how it will serve you with the "KEY-Truth In Artistry"

Dear friends that play records:
Gabriel and I inherited over 1000 records since a friend of ours is not in the position to be paying storage for them or to consider having them shipped across the world to where he is now living, Scotland. Some of you know the one and only Aljay! Well, he collected these records from all over the world starting in the early 90’s until he left the U.S. in 2002, most of which he accumulated in the late 90’s in San Francisco while working for Groovetech Radio. So there is a lot of that period/style in the collection.

He was not able to keep up with the storage unit fees so Gabriel and I covered it for while and ended up quite a bit of pocket. Our goal is to make back the over $1000 USD we spent, by the end of April. We hope you can help us and find some musical treats!

Rektchordz - A. “Bass Pressure”
Rektchordz - AA.“Bass Pressure” (Wavewhore Remix)

Release Date: OCTOBER 2006

BFM004. Distributed by Z Audio.

Pioneering and four-time award winning breakbeat radio station BreaksFM (www.breaksfm.com) proudly presents: Rektchordz – “Bass Pressure”

Side A – Bass Pressure. Rektchordz returns again to BreaksFM with this beast of a tune. Following on from “Lojack” (BFM001 – SOLD OUT!) and his remix of Cereal Killaz “Reality” (BFM003 - in the shops now!). Rektchordz’ reputation has been growing steadily since the start of the year, both on his own and alongside his brother (D-Ranged) as part of the excellent IF:IM. With releases on Downbeat, Trans:verse, Bombtraxx as well as BreaksFM, Rektchordz has been a pretty busy this year and he doesn’t look like stopping for a rest any time soon! Bass Pressure may have been named after the one of the massive breaks events in Spain and with good reason! This is dirty festival bassline music. This is music for people who want to have it large. Dirty stomping basslines and a beat so militant it will probably be considered dangerous to the fabric of society as we know it, form the core of this tune. Throw in some especially paranoid samples and you have a cocktail so potent it’s sure to get any raving going crazy.

Side AA – Wavewhore Remix. Based in Manhattan and the driving force behind many of the best breakbeat events in New York, Wavewhore’s reputation has been growing steadily since his first release on Electrofly titled “Breakin’ the Law”. Since then, he’s released “Funk Pill” featuring vocals from Bex Riley on the Breakspoll award winning Broke imprint and is due to drop another bomb titled “This Is How It Should Be Done” again through those cheeky Broke boys. In addition, his Monday evening show on BreaksFM (‘The Audio Tactics Sessions’) has been building quite the audience. When BreaksFM approached him for a remix we expected something “funky”, but what we didn’t expect was the sheer size of this remix. This is a HUGE REMIX! Sounding like the Breakfasterz at their finest, Wavewhore updates the original with extra synths and smoothes down the edges. This remix has been getting plays all the way across the breakbeat scene, from funky to bassline producers alike.

"I f*cking love this tune... really good stuff mate" - Jezbot of The Autobots

"Just gave this a listen - It sounds real fat and I'm burning it for the next gig!" - Dave Aquasky

I picked up pretty much the complete works of the Rolling Stones for free at moving sale two weeks ago. I am just now sitting down to listen to it - well actually, I am listening to them while playing star wars legos with my son.

This record, like all Stones records, has a bunch of songs that you have been hearing most of your life, but they are not the versions that you have been hearing. I am not sure what happened, but it appears that all the tracks from this record that made it to the musak classic rock stations were significantly reedited.

I am not a Stones historian, so I am not sure if this is actually the case - but classics like Midnight Rambler sound much cooler on this record then I remember. Also, the version of Honkey Tonk Women is this really lo-fi dirge like thing, unlike the high octane ur-disco song I generally hear. Also, there is a song You Got Silver that is not sung by Mick - I did not think that was possible with the Stones.

The copy I have is also on good vinyl - I would guess 160g. The other records I have by the Stones are all on cheap mass produced stuff, but Let it Bleed is really nice - very smooth.
Hookahdome presents... Soul Candy 2!
Saturday, November 19th, 9p-9a in SF

tickets available *only* online:
http://hookahdome.com/soulcandy2/

Imagine entering a softly lit exotic Hookah lounge draped in mystery and intrigue. Gently walking through a sea of beautiful spirits, your ears are filled with the chill beats of Egyptian drums and downbeat rhythms. Cast away your shoes & relax with your kin on a bed of tantalizingly soft pillows. Then breathe in the sweet scent of smoldering hookah tobacco as you are captivated by the undulations of the most incredible belly dancers you'll ever witness.

Let yourself be lured to the dancefloor by sumptuously thumpin' bass and get your groove on to the finest of SF's signature sounds as channeled by Janaka Selekta, Rhythmystic and more! Allow your eyes to wander over the writhing crowd in search of your soul mate, and dance the night away together. Then retire to the roof deck and take a dip in the steaming Jacuzzi tub while you sip your favorite elixir. As the sun rises, join your new tribe for continental breakfast in the Hookah lounge, wondering if you'll ever awaken from this amazing dream.

Now, imagine this dream is really happening, brought to you by your friends at Hookahdome, on Saturday November 19th to raise funds for Hookahdome 2006:

But, when I got home and threw on the first Dolls record there was a horrible skip on the second track. Now I am not a super millitant condition freak, but this really ruined my night - after seeing the movie I was really fired up to listen to this (and was totally jazzed to be getting back to it - I had not listened to this since Fugazi's End Hits came out). It is strange how one never ever gets used to skips, I mean as soon as I heard it the depression set in, I knew I would never listen to this record again because I would not be able to fix this flaw and a flawed record is just not worth listening to...

The album itself is a brilliant piece of art - great cover art, fantastic production by todd rundgren, over all a real jem - I do not think it is that rare either. All the reviews talk about how ahead of its time it was - I do not know about that - clearly a lot were pressed & lots of people heard it. I just realized, that I generally associate stuff as being ahead of its time with scarcity (which may not really be the point)...

To say that I had forgotten how incredible this album is would be to put it mildly. I cannot think of one record that has samples of near the complexity, deftness, and just brilliance. The way the records starts is just about the greatest thing I have ever heard in my life.

I also did not remember how smoothly all of these songs flow one into another. just brillaintly put together. If you have not thrown this on in a while, I really recommend it - it will take you back to 1989 - which seems to have been a time when taking chances was really encouraged - I have not heard anything this chancey in a very long time. And I may never have heard a complete album that works so well.

Freek Factory in unholy conjunction with Disorient invites all y’all bass loving freekz to the NYC subterranean party of the season. Join us in celebrating the much anticipated release of Lorin(bazznectar)’s double dose cd Mesmerizing The Ultra on Amorphous Records.

The new music is deep; throbbing; significant:

Glitched out, smacked up bass bombs, melodic psychedelic swamp ballads for the sub-reptilian brain, phat chuggers and nasty churners, full of subversive lyrical content and calls for human dignity. Music to come go chant down Babylon with your booty wagging in syncopated assent.

If you haven’t heard any of Lorin’s new material then come down and taste the nectar. If you have already been bathing in it then you know the deal. Either way we will see you there, yes?

Don’t sleep.

From 10pm-6am on the night of October 7th we are occupying the premises at 251 W. 30th st (formerly known as Downtime), in the pulsing heart of midtown Manhattan for an unrepentant full throttled bass orgy. You feeling that? Join us as we transform the semi-raw space into a lascivious den of outerworldly delights.

Step inside: We’ve got wonder and we’ve got mayhem in equal measure; whirling things and things that slither; inflatable devices of dubious intent; pirates, dandy’s and trannies; light projecting machines; dark vixens and pimped out maidens writhing atop woofers; scantily clad tiggrrrs fearlessly scuttling about the ceiling; spirit creatures of all description wearing flesh, dense folds of undulating human mass throbbing in ecstatic unison to the fever of the music: Freekin’ The Ultra, know what I’m saying?

Now Sequoia’s going to make things beautiful like she always does. Satsi’s coming all the way east to make things shimmer and glow. Freek Factory Dancers be properly instigating delightful madness. and Disorient is going to touch everything with their glam-tech sensibility and fill the dark corners with things that go blink in the night.

Lorin promises me that he’ll put on his swamp suit and hit us with the rhythm stick. BB.

Don’t let me forget to mention that we’ve got 3 rooms of top shelf talent lined up for your buggin’ pleasure:

The All Good Funk Alliance properly handling your Nu-Funk needs. D.C. got it going on; Rhythmystic wompwompin’ on the funky raggafied tip; Sunder rippin’ things up on turntables and knocking down the one’s and two’s, tight as tight is tight; Spyro’s next level progressive Live PA; Wavewhore and Sean Infinitee reppin for the Nu-Skool hedz; The Bass and Orion bringing that deep house vibe to get things lubricated; AtoMikDog, Zapper, and the Drop In Posse with European style Techno and Breakbeats all night on Live PA in the downstairs lounge; JP001 going to start things right on the funky tip: and I am going to bring it all home with a late night journey to a deep place we’ll call tomorrow when we get there.

Are you down for the ride?

Come celebrate life, Lorin, love, whatever. Don’t matter, let’s just freek it beautiful, yes.

I'm looking to buy records of these dates in a mass lot. I'm willing to spend about 50 to 60 bucks on a good deal. I mostly like big band and orchestrated music like fox trots etc....

If anyone knows of a place in orange county where i can buy such Items can you let me know? Sometimes I go to pasedena flea market to buy these records but they are hard to find the same dealer. I'm jut a beginner so I don't know much.
Special Performance by MATMOS

The event is the product of Alternative Contexts, a class of the New Genres Department of the San Francisco Art Institute led by Tony Labat, Professor and Chair of the department. This class aims at and it is about art in alternative contexts, in other words, outside of the gallery/museum system.

There are 22 artists participating, some collaborating as teams, others working alone. From environments and installations to performance, video and interactive pieces. Live music and special guest: Matmos. It is also (of course) a nice great big party for the San Francisco Art Institute.

The exhibit continues through the night with the Subalicious crew providing a first time San Francisco performance from both Andrew Weatherall & Keith Tenniswood (the Two Lone Swordsman, WARP) in the same night. There will be five rooms of music and art in San Francisco's state of the art nightclub 1015 Folsom. This is a night about taking it beyond the norm, it is art and music with a cultural imperative.
