Strangelove starts 2008 off with a bang! On Friday, January 4th, Strangelove geeks out with VINYL APPRECIATION NIGHT! Tomas Diablo and fellow turntablists Dangerous Dan (1984, Gossip), Julian DeStrukt (Pop Roxx, Tokyo Electric), Mitch (Death Guild, Meat), and Prince Charming (The Pleasure Principle) spin the best Dark Electro, Industrial, New Wave, and Goth on the wheels of steel. That's right - all records, all night long!

We're offering reduced admission to anyone wearing vinyl. And we'll be giving away gift certificates to local record shops OPEN MIND MUSIC and STREETLIGHT RECORDS!

Remember - Strangelove is now first Fridays at the CAT CLUB (Folsom and 8th) - which means more room to dance around and we can keep dancing until 3AM!

DUDE! Thanks so much for hipping me to Open Mind's new location. My last visit to SF ( I live up in Humboldt) I was extremely disappointed to find Open Mind closed! While I like Ameoba's selection, trying to talk to one of the employees is like a trip back to junior high. They have that junior high bullshit attitude: "I am so much cooler than you . . ." The folks at Open Mind are hip, knowledgable, but above all friendly! Reminds me of a record store I used to work at.

LONG LIVE VINYL! Serato and CDJ's are for posers.

P.S. I thought about starting a VINYL RULES night up here in Arcata. But I think I may be the last DJ still spinning it.

P.S.S. I couldn't help but notice that the night you describe seems very eclectic. Any room for an out-of-towner passing through? Been spinning vinyl since '84 and have quite a collection from myriad genres. Where do I send a demo CD?
